"How much will this cost?" is the first question almost everyone asks. We don't post a price list, and it's not to be cagey. A single recliner in a ground-floor garage and a full basement down a narrow staircase are different jobs, and a flat price chart would be wrong for most people. Here's what actually goes into the number.
1. How much space it takes up
Volume is the biggest factor for most jobs. Hauling is priced around how much of the trailer your items fill. A few bulky items take up more room than you'd expect, and a garage that looks "not that bad" often fills more than you'd guess once it's all loaded.
2. How heavy it is
Some materials are dense: concrete, brick, dirt, roofing, tile, wet yard waste. A trailer of those weighs far more than a trailer of furniture, and disposal sites charge by weight. If your job has a lot of heavy material, say so up front so the quote is right.
3. How hard it is to get to
A couch in the garage is quick. The same couch in a third-floor bedroom, or a freezer in a basement with a tight turn at the bottom of the stairs, takes more time and more care. Access is part of the price.
4. Special items
A few things take extra work or have their own disposal rules:
- Hot tubs often have to be taken apart on site to fit through a gate. See hot tub removal.
- Fridges, freezers and AC units contain refrigerant, which has to be recovered before the metal can be scrapped under federal rules.
- TVs, monitors and computers are banned from Indiana landfills and have to go to electronics recycling.
- Sheds and small structures have to be taken apart before they can be loaded.
What the town options cost
For one or two items, your town's bulk pickup may be the cheapest route. Here's what a few towns we work in charge, as of September 2026:
- Carmel: $20 per bulky item through Republic Services, booked at least 48 hours ahead.
- Zionsville: $10 per item through Priority Waste, 48 hours' notice, and nothing over 50 pounds.
- Westfield: Bulk Trash Day twice a year, where you drop items off yourself. Mattresses $5, Freon appliances $30.
- Brownsburg and Avon: no town bulk program. It depends on your private trash company.
Those options make sense for a single piece you can get to the curb. Once it's a room, a garage or a house, or anything heavier than you can move, a hauler who loads it from where it sits usually makes more sense.
How to get an accurate quote fast
- Tell us roughly what's going and where it is (garage, basement, backyard).
- Send a few photos if you can. We can often quote from photos alone.
- Mention anything heavy, hard to reach, or unusual.
Then you get a real number before we start. The quote is free, and there's no obligation. Get yours here, or call (317) 554-9382.
Common questions
Why don't junk removal companies list prices?
Because the price depends on volume, weight, access and special items, and a single chart would be wrong for most jobs. We give you a real number for your job before we start.
Can you quote from photos?
Often, yes. A few clear photos of everything that's going usually gets you an accurate number.
Is town bulk pickup cheaper?
For one or two items you can get to the curb, it can be. Carmel charges $20 per item and Zionsville $10 per item under 50 pounds. For bigger jobs, a hauler usually makes more sense.
