Republic Services has held Carmel's trash contract since 2012 and signed a new seven-year deal in 2023. Bulk pickup is part of it, at $20 an item, paid by you. You call Republic at 844-737-8254 at least 48 hours before your regular pickup day. A bedroom set is a mattress, a box spring, a frame, a dresser and a nightstand. That's five items and $100, and you still carry them out.

ClearPath is Mason McKinney's crew. We're 18 miles away in Brownsburg. You call or text (317) 554-9382, we look at the job, you get the number, and we carry it out.

The two-day rule

Carmel's code enforcement page lists the complaints it hears most. Section 6-222 says indoor items like couches, mattresses and appliances can't sit outside, unless they're "temporarily placed for disposal or removal from property within two days." Section 5.76(b) caps trash stored outside a building at seven days, except during construction. Set a couch out on Saturday and you have until Monday.

What the county takes, if you can get it there

Hamilton County has a permanent hazardous waste center at 1717 Pleasant Street in Noblesville, open Tuesday through Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Bring proof you live in the county. It takes paint, both latex and oil, computers, TVs at $20 each, and refrigerators and freezers as long as they're empty. It does not take mattresses, furniture, building materials or yard waste. And nothing gets there until someone lifts a fridge into a truck.

Landscape waste has its own rules. Republic takes 20 extra bags or bundles a week in April, May and from October 15 to December 15. Bulky landscape waste is $40 a pickup.

Where ClearPath fits

We are an owner-run crew from Brownsburg, and Carmel is one of the five towns we work most. Mason McKinney answers the phone at (317) 554-9382. Send photos or fill out the form, and he tells you the number for the whole job before we start. Then we carry it out from the bedroom, the basement or behind the garage. No two-day clock, no per-item math, no call to Republic.

Whatever still works is dropped at a donation center. Only what is left goes to the landfill. One customer described Mason as "very punctual and responsive."

What we do in Carmel

Whole-house jobs. A listing that has to be empty by closing, a parent's house, a move-out. That's property cleanouts, and at $20 an item through the city hauler it's where the math turns fastest. The single big things come next: furniture and appliance removal and hot tub removal, neither of which fits a bulk pickup or a trip to Noblesville.

Remodels leave cabinets, drywall and old tile. Code allows trash outside during construction, but it still has to go somewhere. See construction debris removal. For the garage itself, garage cleanouts, and for a yard pile that's more than 20 bags, yard debris removal.

Not a fit

Paint, chemicals, fuel and solvents go to the county center in Noblesville. We don't haul tires. The county takes up to five a week. Demolition beyond sheds and small structures is outside what we do.

Raked up and removed garbage bags of old mulch, removed 6 old large shrubs and trimmed a holly tree. Very professional, good work ethic, efficient and personable. Would highly recommend them for removal of household items, storage unit items, office items and clean up of yards.

We rented a trailer for 24 hours to clear out unused items taking up space in our basement, garage, attic, and barn and we couldn't have been happier. He was prompt, kind, and very responsive! All we had to do was tell him when we needed it and when we were done and he took care of the rest.

Carmel junk removal questions

Something else? Call or text (317) 554-9382.

Isn't $20 an item through Republic the cheaper way?

For one chair you can carry to the curb yourself, call Republic 48 hours ahead and pay the $20. Call us when it's a room, a basement, or something you can't lift.

Will you take the mattress and box spring?

Yes. The county center in Noblesville won't, and through Republic they're two items, $40, booked 48 hours ahead.

What about leftover paint?

We do not take it. The Hamilton County center at 1717 Pleasant Street in Noblesville takes latex and oil paint from county residents.

Can you clear a house before a closing?

Yes. Property cleanouts are one of our main services. Send photos of each room and Mason gives you one number for all of it.
