A dumpster sits for the length of the rental and gets hauled once. A trailer is gone the next day. In Carmel, city code gives indoor items set outside two days before it's a code issue, and trash can't sit outside more than seven. A 24-hour trailer stays inside both. In Zionsville, the town hauler's $10 bulk pickup won't take anything over 50 lbs, so the heavy things were never going to the curb anyway.

What goes in it. A trailer of boxes and furniture and a trailer of drywall and tile weigh very different amounts, and the dump charges by weight. Then how long you keep it, if you need more than the 24 hours. Then anything with a disposal rule, like an appliance with refrigerant or a TV, which Indiana keeps out of landfills.
